All students eligible for convocation will be mailed an invitation approximately two months before the ceremony. To make sure you receive the invitation, you should check that your postal address listed on HEC en ligne is updated.
E-mail reminders will be sent to your HEC Montréal address only.

To participate in convocation ceremonies, you must register with Student Services. A registration form will be put online at the same time as the invitation is mailed. It is very important to respect the deadlines; once they have passed, your participation in the ceremony can no longer be guaranteed. Make sure to register with the program and concentration that correspond to your course of study to ensure the correct order for the graduation procession.
A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you once your registration is successfully completed. If you don’t receive confirmation immediately, contact us in order to check your registration status.
Students and their guests will be assigned seats in order to make sure the event goes smoothly. Please note that students will be seated apart from their guests for the entirety of the event.
Tickets for graduates are free. They are numbered according to the order students will go on stage; they cannot be exchanged. It is important to respect the place in line indicated on your ticket.
Prices
For the M.Sc. in management, Master’s in electronic commerce, and LL.M. – taxation option programs, guest tickets cost $35 each.
For the MBA program, the first guest ticket is courtesy of the program’s administration. Additional tickets cost $35 each.
For the EMBA program, tickets are free.
There is a limit of 4 guest tickets per graduate in all programs.
Additional tickets
If you’d like to obtain additional guest tickets, indicate the precise number of guest tickets desired in the appropriate section of your registration form.
If you’ve already registered, please contact Student Services in order to make the appropriate changes to your file. Please note that extra guest tickets are not guaranteed, and they will be given out on a first-come-first, served basis after registration closes.
Tickets will be mailed approximately three weeks before the ceremony to the address on your registration form.
At the end of your online registration, you will be asked to pay for your guest tickets (if applicable). The only online payment method available is credit card. A confirmation e-mail will be sent after a successful payment. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, contact Student Services to check your payment status.
You can also choose to pay by cheque. Send your cheque to the Student Services office as soon as possible. Please make the cheque out to HEC Montréal, write your student number on the back, and send it to:
| Service aux étudiants – HEC Montréal 3000 chemin de la Côte Sainte-Catherine Montréal (Qc), Canada, H3T 2A7 |
You can also drop the cheque off in person at the Student Services counter (5255 Decelles Avenue, 5th floor, Room 5.200).
As the ceremony, including preparation time, is four hours long, we highly recommend that you eat before you arrive.
HEC Montréal will loan you an academic gown and a mortarboard cap. The gown is black and has a V-neck; it’s worn open on the clothing, and stops around 33 cm (13 inches) above the ground. With that in mind, you should wear appropriate clothing and shoes. The cap is "one size fits all". If you think you will have trouble wearing the cap with your hairstyle, then you should bring hairpins.
As a security measure, no valuables or handbags can be left in the changing room or brought on stage when you’re called. Please leave personal belongings with your guests.
Before leaving, return your gown to the changing room backstage. If your gown is missing, you will be charged for it.
Fee parking is available at Place des Arts, at 1450 Saint-Urbain Street.
Other fee parking is available in the UQAM building, Complexe Desjardins or Complexe Guy-Favreau. The entries are all located on Saint-Urbain Street.
During the ceremony, you’ll receive a congratulatory letter from your program director, not an official diploma. Your diploma will be mailed to you as soon as it’s available, 6-8 months after you satisfy all the requirements for your program. It is therefore important to let the Registrar know of any change of address. To do so, you should keep your address updated in HEC en ligne, in the section “Données personnelles.”
